There is a beautiful little girl that I have come to know and love. She has cancer. There is this great nonprofit organization that will paint shoes for children that struggle with cancer and other unfortunate diseases. These are the ones that I ordered for little Olivia. We absolutely adore Chicago in every condition that is not snowy. I could write an entire blog about how much I detest it. But instead I will tell you what we do to keep ourselves entertained...

Right now I am watching my husband pace back and forth and play his guitar, 90's songs tonight. He started with some Fuel and we just went from there. When he does this I always stop dead in my tracks. It always pulls at my heart strings and I am in awe of how lucky I am.

We watch a lot of movies. This weekend we downloaded some new movies. I wont share the names as I dont want us to get in trouble or judged for downloading movies but the two that we saw were pretty darn good. Even when we dont download them we have Netflix. We watched Guilt Trip on New Years and really enjoyed it.

This has been an awfully stressful last few weeks for us. Not because of the holidays but because I came down with the flu on Christmas Eve and it lasted a little over a week. I was down for both Christmas and New Years. On Monday, the 30th, we said goodbye to our beautiful Muffy. She was a valued member of the Quiah family for 13 years and her loss was devastating.

Well, on to watching the snow fall more. Tomorrow, with the windchill, we will be drudging to work in -40 weather. Yes, you read that right. I am so disappointed that the expectation is for people to leave their homes in this weather. Not that our home is super warm and cozy- we have a radiator that we cant control. We have these big beautiful windows that are drafty. Thankfully, we have a heated blanket.
Okay, enough with the winter complaints. My next move will be warmer than this. Chemical Kittenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18057894959727637798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7506244915220576388.post-70353513392498929252013-09-07T00:54:00.001-04:002013-09-07T00:54:45.390-04:00Autumn is good for my soul.One hundred posts? Pretty impressive, especially for someone who doesn't generally consistently stick with anything.

Autumn is coming and it's my very favorite season. Jonah put some of my music on my iPhone (yeah still bored with that process) and it has really taken me back. It has been good for my soul to listen to my favorite albums. I also got my paws on a big beautiful cup of Pumpkin Spice Latte. I took a big whiff of it first before tasting it. It took me back to this one particular memory.

I was 22 or 23 and I lived on Walker Ave in Greensboro, North Carolina. I was staying in a house I affectionately call, The Dungeon. The Dungeon had very few windows and I lived there during some of my darkest days. Down the street from that house was a park that I held dear to my heart. I would frequently go to this park on my free afternoons with my camera. I would just walk around all afternoon and think through my problems.

One rainy afternoon, in the fall, I grabbed a venti Pumpkin Spice Latte and went to the park. I was wearing this giant cable-knit sweater that felt like a hug. The moist brisk air smelled like high school football and my time in the marching band. I didn't take many pictures that afternoon but just soaked up my surroundings. It was perfect. I wasn't lonely for one minute that day which was a real treat. That was one of my favorite days ever.

That whiff of Pumpkin Spice Latte, a few days ago, brought me right back to that day.

Autumn is good for my soul. It stirs me up and pushes me to express myself. It's coming.

XoXo!
The biggest thing is that we moved to Chicago.

Initially, I was not excited about the move. It was my promotion that led to the transfer but we were living in a beautiful little townhouse with rose bushes, a fenced in backyard, 3 bedrooms. We painted and decorated. We had ourselves a little love nest on the outskirts of DC. When I told Jonah about the news he was so excited. He missed city livin'. I couldn't possibly believe that I would like Chicago more than New York.

A few weeks after we moved I had to travel back to New York for work and I stayed for a week and a half. What an eye opener. I love NYC and I always will. There is an energy there that is indescribable. BUT... Chicago is awesome. I love how clean this city is. I love the beaches. The people are pretty awesome. My office is sweet. My apartment, although expensive, is quite charming. We really like Chicago. Keep in mind, we have only been here a few months and have not seen winter yet. Thus far, a big thumbs up from us.

Could this be our forever home? Maybe! Probably not (snow) but it is definitely a real possibility.
Whelp, I'm thirty years old.

To be honest, if you asked me a few years ago I was fairly disappointed that this milestone was coming up however now that its come its refreshing.

My twenties were heartbreaking and fun. I learned a lot about life, love, faith, and self-worth. Up until 26 it was rough. I struggled with a horrible depression and had a terrible time getting back on track. Twenty-six is when I was steered in a different direction. I genuinely get to enter my thirties happy. I feel like I have overcome and acomplished more than I imagined I would. I feel successful at work and happy at home.

Of course, I must celebrate the new chapter in my life with a to do list. If I'm not making a list I don't feel like I'm achieving. Ive come up with a few adventures and goals that I would like to try in my thirties. I will share the list here so that I dont lose it like I lost the last one.

Things to do in my Thirties:
You may be wondering what I did on my birthday this year. Well, we were suppose to be in in Florida but that didnt work out for us this time around. We decided to go see the family in Erie. Now that the children are there and I cant see them as often I miss them like crazy. I went to a day spa called Panache. It was awesome. I got the luxury package and was pampered all day long. I even got my anti-aging facial. I will post an after photo. I think it worked.

Some may be misguided but regardless everyone wants to leave something behind. I am no exception.

In my early twenties I went through a pretty dark stage. I was horribly depressed suffering from a broken heart and this ridiculous phase lasted a few years. During this time I saw a music video that had me change the course I was steering my ship. It was a My Chemical Romance music video for Helena. It was funeral. The music was emotional and there was this look in the singers eyes at the end of the video, it was the best way to describe how I felt on the inside. I was hooked.

For the next couple of years I found myself in different cities all over the US and Canada catching their show and trying to meet the band. I dragged friends and family to the show and had one hell of a time doing it. Up until this point in my life I felt so boring. I was so focused on pleasing everyone that I forgot to figure out who I was and what I wanted. This adventure made me feel alive and pulled me through the depression. Eventually the goal, meeting the band, became more than just 'meeting the band'. I wanted to know what I could accomplish, if I could actually meet this popular rock band. I thought, wow, someday this will make a cool story to tell my kids (legacy).

It took years. I started in 2005. I went to Warped Tour in Virginia Beach with my brother Eddie and sister in law Beth. I met up with a roadie I knew and he walked me back stage one time. After that the security thought that I belonged backstage. I went back and met Fall Out Boy, I mistook them for roadies. I waited until Beth and Eddie met me back there, apparently security was very relaxed, and we met Frank. Beth and I took a picture with him. I was hooked. I now knew I could get this far, time to go big.

Highlights; 15 shows, backstage few times, took my mom to a show and while waiting out back the police were called on Mom and I, Kelly got me into the dressing room where I proceeded to take items including a perfectly good salad meant for Gerard, Kelly and I ate that salad for breakfast in the morning, Beth took her first flight with me to go to a show in a snow storm, I met Mandy in Vegas for a show and then we drove the desert for another, I won meet and greet tickets on the radio and gave them to my brother for his birthday (They were for Blink 182 and I have gotten him Blink tickets for years for his bday) and couldn't go so my Fiance (now husband) met the entire band all at once instead of me meeting each on at different time ( I had met everyone but Gerard, the Big Fish). Then lastly, Comic Con in New York.

Let me just say, my friends and family were awesome through it all. Dad was a little disturbed and Mom was constantly worried I would become a groupie and I loved keeping them on their toes.

Let me elaborate on the last highlight I mentioned, Comic Con New York. This year I bought my husband tickets to Comic Con for his 26th birthday. Twenty-six was a lucky year for me and for many other I know so I wanted to make it special for him. We were lacking sleep and I was sick when we arrived. I was trying to look cool and nerdy and YOUNG. I will be 30 this year and I wanted to go to this thing and sort of blend in. I did my hair and makeup. I wore my skull shirt, band hoodie, jeans, tutu, chucks, and pink highlights for my hair. But I kept looking at my face and thinking something is off. What is wrong with my makeup? I look old and tired.

We didnt let me feeling old and tired (and sick) stop us from exhausting ourselves even more. We had a great time. My husband is into it all. We explored comic books, art, costumes, movies, video games, anime, etc. The one thing we were going to attend for me was a signing with Gerard Way. I was looking forward to it and was also feeling self conscious. I was hoping to get a picture with him this time around and I knew I looked old and tired and would hate the way I looked in this picture but couldn't pass up the opportunity. The Big Fish.

Due to unorganized staff at the event I did not get to participate in the signing. But I did get to stand right in front of the table and watch/take a million pictures. I stood among all teenage girls and a few of their parents. I felt ridiculous. My husband is standing behind me and was happy to wait with me, even though he knew I would swoon over my crush.

He comes out. All the girls are crying, yes I said CRYING. Not me (for the record I have never cried over this band or any member of it). I was in awe. This guy represented a portion of my youth. I would normally be over the moon for this opportunity but it hit me like a ton of bricks, my Big Fish got old and tired just like me. Im too tired to chase and he looks to old to run. I laughed and thought, this is ironic. On the day that I feel so badly about the loss of my youth my Big Fish also lost his. The score was tied. I took my millions of pictures and looked at him like he was an old friend. I walked away that day, not bummed at all, but thrilled that I had each and every one of those experiences and mostly for this most recent one.

It's funny, I would have never imagined that this adventure would have meant so much to me. I hope my kids never attempt this. If my parents knew the details they would have never slept again. Makin' 'em proud... ha!

Anyway, we just celebrated our one year wedding anniversary!!! Plus as of this month we are working on starting a family. Stay posted.

This being Pediatric Cancer Awareness month has been a very
sobering month for me. A friend of mine, who is also extended family, has a
child with Cancer. Now, I’ve had a run in with cancer before, my older brother
fought it a few years back. But since Becky, my friend, has been posting things
about her daughter, Kinley, I have definitely become more aware. Kin is 12
years old and has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a big scary name for a big
scary disease. When Becky posted little
by little about how Kinley was doing I was always concerned but said a prayer
and kept moving. But lately she has been having some toxicity issues with the
Chemo. These stories are very scary for me, the adult across the country who is
a friend and does not have cancer. I can’t imagine how Becky feels let alone
Kinley.

This month Becky has posted so many facts about Pediatric
Cancer. She has shared other kids Facebook pages and blogs. Everyday my heart
breaks a little more. I wish I could magically cure them all. I wish there was
a solution, an easy fix. I feel guilty for mentioning my crummy day because it
certainly wasn’t full of chemotherapy or not being able to walk or forgetting
my speech from the toxicity of the chemo. It wasn’t watching my child suffer or
being asked to stay away from my suffering baby because the chemo could hurt
me. My life is unicorns, sparkles, and butterflies compared to these children
and their parent’s.

I started to like these suppose pages and found that daily
there are children who “earn their wings”. Obviously, Cancer kills but somehow
I thought there was a better handle on this craziness. There isn’t. Do you know
how much of the research funds go to this cause? Well, let me start by telling
you that 4.6 billion dollars of the federal budget goes to The National Cancer Institute.
Breast Cancer gets 12%, Prostate Cancer gets 7%, and (here’s the kicker) all 12
of the major groups of pediatric cancers combined receives less than 3%. Where
is the justice in this? These are kids getting cancer. I don’t understand.

Anyway, my heart has been so heavy on this topic. I feel
like I’m being pulled on this one by God to assist in some way. I just haven’t
figured out what I’m being asked to do.

On a different note, I think I am going to start a small
business. Details to follow. Keep posted. I have a talent and I think I can
make money doing it. Doing my market research on it and once I determine if
there is a market for this then I will spill the beans!

I had a daydream today, an interesting visualization that I wanted to explore. Im not much into card games but enjoy the dichotomy of personalities at any given table and the complexities behind the game.

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
“Poker may be a branch of psychological warfare, an art form or indeed a way of life – but it is also merely a game, in which money is simply the means of keeping score.” (Anthony Holden)

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;">

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
There is a group of friends sitting at a Poker table, cards in hand. Each carefully investigating what the other players are planning. Slyly looking up from their cards to see the looks on their opponents faces. Watching how they shift in their seats. Thick, heavy air makes this night suffocating.

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
This group of people were randomly selected to participate in this Poker league many years ago. They have never left the league. It has created a bond of friendship. Outside this table they generally would not connect for their personalities are too different to 'play nice' all the time.

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
The Card Sharks: They have been playing Poker for years. They know the ins and outs of this game. They play with a Colombo mindset, as if this is their first rodeo but in fact they have done this many times. They are humble about their talents and hide in the shadows. When they win they quickly get up from the table with their prize and hide back in the dark. From the shadows they watch the despair at the table as people pick up whatever is left and leave defeated or challenge others, accusing their friends of cheating. “I’ll share my cards if you share yours” mentality. After they see the “friends”/opponents cards they strike, even with the same exact hand.

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
Novice Players: They play to get better and they like to participate with this particular group. They know the stakes are high but they play as fair as possible and take in as much as they can. They generally lose but they learn each time. They have some decent moves but really they don’t have enough to put in the pot to play for keeps. They fold fast but stay and watch, taking notes. Others at the table do not feel threatened by them because they don't have enough to play big. They will keep track of each move and others will trust them enough to show them their cards because they know that nothing will come of it.

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
"Poker Masters": those who aren’t very good at the game but have convinced themselves that they are Poker Masters. They enjoy the game profusely and brag loudly about their mild wins. They are too proud and arrogant to know when to hold ‘em or fold ‘em. They always play till they have nothing left. Always embarrassed by losing they resort to accusations to hold up their pride. They play to win, it’s not about the prize. Bragging rights. They love the game and will attend every gathering possible to try their odds. They play poker with multiple groups. A love of the game.

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
The Duds: who really do not know how to play poker. They think they know the game but from every game played before it is clear that they don’t “get it”. If they have ever won it is out of pure luck. When they play they are playing for keeps but make a lot of novice mistakes. It seems that they play with their heart more than their head. They do not play smart. They seem to enjoy the game but play because they need to win. They never just want to win.

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
The Bored: hate poker, they don’t care about the prize, the people, they just show up out of boredom. They never win because they don’t try. It’s suspected that they would try if the prize was alluring to them. They are a part of the group but rarely attend the gatherings. Doesn’t seem to be their thing.

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
The game begins. The stakes are high. Shifting, watching, and evaluating their hands. Each card flipped adds noticeable tension at the table. Each player shows discomfort as their neighbor produces their respective hand. Silence. Listening for the pin to drop. It sounds like a hammer. With each card laid on the table it feels like a knife in the back. Flush face. Panic. Uncertain outcome. Winner is nervous as the table stirs.

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
"The strong point in poker is never to lose your temper, either with those you are playing with or, more particularly, with the cards. There is no sympathy in poker. Always keep cool. If you lose your head you will lose all your chips." (William J. Florence)

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
This round is over but, as always, they intend to play again. They are, after all, friends and the chips never left the table.

I am going to argue that Return of Saturn is the best No Doubt album.
Man, I have missed No Doubt for sure. I kind of stopped listening to them for a while because I found it impossible to heal a broken heart. All kinds of things can break your heart.
"Hearts will never be practical until they are made unbreakable" - Wizard of Oz
I guess we could say I don't 'play' friends well. I keep incredibly busy for a lot of reasons, which we will get into in a moment, and I don't find time to be a constant in my friends lives. The formative friendships from childhood turned out nightmare-ish and therefore the importance of it failed to download in my brain. I love having a few close friends but I'm better at contacting each other periodically and catching up. Following each other on Facebook is also something I like. Weekly emails are fantastic. This is me.
When I made time to call friends often I wasn't being honest about what was going on in my life. I didn't lie, I just chose not to talk about everything. Hell, when my high school sweetheart and I broke up after 4 years of dating I didn't tell my best friend (at the time) for 3 months. I didn't want to talk about it, I wanted to get past it. It was too raw to explore with someone else at that time. Crying in the closet and video games were my emotional outlets.
Years of therapy, I haven't changed. I still refuse to air my dirty laundry with those closest to me. Skeletons in the closet.
I like to keep a lot of me to myself. Big glacier here (hey, that would be a great scree name glacier-something-with-number-attached). I keep myself incredibly busy so that I don't have to deal with my emotions. I haven't had a bad life. Ive been amazingly blessed. I have had a handful of not-so-cool sucker punches. But really, who hasn't? Mine have just been the therapy type.
Ive made a lot of mistakes. I have pushed a lot of good people away. I have kept unhealthy people around for longer than I wish to admit. I haven't paid close enough attention to myself or my heart. I have spent too much time in survival mode instead of life mode. I run from a lot of what I need. I dabble in potential emotional landmines.I am a workaholic. I hate drama but seem to seek out dramatic situations (not cause them but try to fix things around me but never me). I am my own worst enemy.
I am taking a moment to rediscover myself now, at almost 30. Discovering yourself should be an ongoing process but I am forced to stop and listen now. Before the next stage of life I need to know how I feel, what I want, and how I plan to get there.
You do everything the right way, according to the demands your parent put on you. You believe that this is what will provide the best life, the most successful life. But what is that? What does that look like? No one knows because its never been completely defined.
Just some things I have been munching on.

We are now Maryland residents. You wouldn’t think there would be a big difference between Virginia and Maryland but I think there is. So far so good though. We have really enjoyed our new place for the most part. There have been some hiccups here and there; the dishwasher needs replaced, the upstairs bathroom is more outdated then I remembered, we didn’t realize there was no microwave when we moved in, it needs a good paint job, etc. But the boxes are all in and have seemingly vomited our stuff all over the place.
We are not the king and queen of organization so needless to say our place is a bit of a mess and will be until we have our Organization Goddess stop by. We have even had others volunteer to help! We will be in good shape once we get help.
We like it and so do our pet babies.
More photos to come.

It is so drama packed and people have gotten so nasty over it. Let me start by stating that I am a Christian, the kind that reads the Bible but doesn’t believe that it’s my duty to chase others and beat them with it. I believe that Jesus asked us to love others and that judgment is not my job nor does he want to see me doing it. So, I do my very best to stay out of peoples business unless it directly affects me.
I do believe what the word tells us but I also am also very careful not to listen to other peoples interpretations of the word. I trust that God will put on my heart what I need to be concerned with and what my convictions are. I am aware that the same verse can used to prove both sides of an argument and people use the Bible to support what they personally believe to be right or wrong and that is ok by me, as long as God placed that on your heart and it didn’t come from your personal opinions.
I believe that God gave us freewill. By this I mean that he allows us to make our own decisions, good or bad, and expects that we will focus on our decisions and not others.
I believe that God does want us to bring others to him but not out of condemnation but with love. We are to show others Gods love. We aren’t to immediately tell them what they are doing that God wouldn’t like but we are to show them Gods love. Bring them into our homes and churches and introduce them to this incredible love by introducing them to the Bible. They will read it and if they don’t then your life will be a testament. If they ask questions about God and the Bible or sin you go straight to the good book. Point out the sections that speak about what they are asking about and let God do his work. Your opinion does not matter because you have something better, THE BIBLE.
Notice that the original Bibles did not come with footnotes. I don’t trust footnotes, they are only peoples interpretation and it shows lack of faith that God will move into your heart and head and help you understand. You know, I think it’s okay to have study partners and Bible study groups but it is to be looked at as a conversation. It is a forum to speak about what meant to you and how you felt about what you read, what God showed you this time. There have been times where I read the same verse weeks apart and it has shown me different things. I believe this is why the Bible will never be a one time read. Be careful what you read and who you listen to. Faith is not easy and it shouldn’t be. You should do more than just read the Bible but feel it as well. Feel Gods presence.
I am a firm believer that all people were created equally by God. Therefore, I believe that all people must abide by the same laws, be afforded the same benefits, and given the same rights. What you do with them is your business (there’s that freewill thing). If you are unable to give everyone the same rights then no one should be given those rights. I do believe in a separation of church and state. Vote for what you believe in, you should. But segregating people or taking rights away from people is not what I read in the Bible.
I suggest that we take the benefits away from the married; tax breaks, insurance benefits, etc because they aren’t given to everyone and not everyone is eligible. We should not need to inform the Government of our marriage status because it should not matter to them now that some are not given the rights to the benefits. Keep marriage in the church where it was developed and each church can determine if they choose to recognize the marriage or perform it. In the Bible divorce is not really an option so the rates will go way down and adultery is also a sin so we won’t have to worry about those things either since we will be following the Bible.
You might be wondering about the assets that two people acquire when they share a life together. If people choose to separate or simply not marry and just share a life together the courts will look at it like a business. Sign some kind of business contract at the beginning (a prenup of sorts) so that, if you part ways you will get what is owed to you. It’s really that simple.
Or, you can just allow Gay marriage and give everyone the same rights. We will discontinue the phrase GAY MARRIAGE and just call it marriage. You will continue to follow the Bible, live your life well according to his word and love others. If you believe being Gay is a sin then you won’t get a “Gay Marriage” just like you don’t cheat, get drunk, steal, lie, judge, murder, divorce, ect. We will continue to love everyone and not (publicly) exclude them.
Whether they pass gay marriage or not my faith will not change. My heart hurts that this has become a public exclusion and in some cases a witch hunt. I can promise we have gained zero new Christians in this ordeal. Sadly, this has not brought out the best in us Christians. Non-gay, non-Christians see this debate and want to steer clear of us because of how nasty and mean it’s gotten.
What would Jesus do? I don’t think he would be standing in line at Chick-Fil-a. Even if he supported it he wouldn’t be standing in line, posting pictures of him wearing a Chick-Fil-a shirt, bragging. He would be acting, continuing to spread the word. This would not faze him. He would not be standing on this soapbox, this would never have been his style.
Love More!! I pray for Equality. What is good for one must be good for all.

The days that I describe as horrible are stressful. They generally include nasty and rude people, maybe family issues, deadlines that are silly or next to impossible, my neck so tight it feels like it could literally snap, situations that tragic- the worst day of someone’s life, and it usually ends in tears (mine, the clients, or my family). The day is followed by a glass of wine. Even if the day turns into a horrible week or month it always ends. No one has been injured, no one has died (thank God), and everyone is healthy (for the most part). Even on my horrible days I am blessed.

God reminded me a few days ago that, even though my situation currently is frustrating and my heart is hurting, it is a challenge and not a disaster. There is so much to be thankful for and so many blessing to count. Thinking negatively doesn’t solve anything.

There is a beautiful little princess named Kaitlyn who is fighting for each day of her life. Now, what they are going through is horrible. They have such a wonderful and positive prospective. Their faith is so strong. I’m praying for them just as much as I pray for us. Take a look at her blog: http://niemannpick.blogspot.com/

I’m inspired. I’m thankful. I will act accordingly.

XoXo!
MChemical Kittenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18057894959727637798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7506244915220576388.post-77340999020686473932012-03-20T21:31:00.001-04:002012-03-20T23:09:20.145-04:00Serenity prayersThe serenity prayer, its so simple but so powerful.

The power of prayer is an amazing thing. His presence has meant everything to me.
Something I would have normally adored happened yesterday. Our company asked us for a list of our top 5 cities nationally and internationally for relocation possibilities. At first my list was adventurous and was made of dream locations. But then reality set in and I became scared. I have a responsibility to stay near my family. I need to be able to get to them, a drive away.

Being so far away from my family when we lived in New York was so difficult. I cried on the subway nearly every night on the way home from work for almost two months. My heart hurt so badly. I just wanted to love on the babies. My heart is so attached to my niece and nephews.

The heart is a crazy thing. It feels like nothing else in the whole world.Chemical Kittenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18057894959727637798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7506244915220576388.post-71096969234307868492012-03-15T22:21:00.001-04:002012-03-15T22:22:49.125-04:00Lonely GamesSometimes you’ll play lonely games too. Game you cant win ‘cause you’ll play against you.

Man, I don’t know how I am so calm these days but the lack of sleep finally threw me over the edge tonight. I knew it when I was hugging my husband and got weak to pass out. I truly am exhausted. Not tired but emotionally and physically at my limits.

I want to scream at the top of my lungs and tell the next person that looks at me strange to “get the hell off my back”. I find myself biting my tongue so I don’t hurt those I love, constantly reminding myself that my problems are mine and that I need not to make them anyone elses. I want to close myself off and drown myself in a chemical romance. I want a fight. But more than anything I just want to stay on my couch and feel sorry for myself, throw a pity party.

Everything I love is falling apart. The walls around me are falling down and I cant build them fast enough. I also cant pray enough or fast enough. Helplessness is something I hate more than anything.

So here I sit trying to find the right words, trying to keep this vague. If only I didn’t have to be so vague and I could say whats on my heart.
My husband is sick, he has a head cold plus he is stressed about his own stuff. Sadly I have been so self-involved in my own problems and consumed with my own stress that I have neglected his. I feel horribly selfish.

Things will get better. I don’t expect to win but I do expect to keep going. Now if only I can keep going forward and not backward that will be a remarkable achievement.

XoXo!
MChemical Kittenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18057894959727637798noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7506244915220576388.post-30712794114315197042012-02-04T23:04:00.001-05:002012-02-04T23:23:51.221-05:00Tick Tock Tick Tock...I awoke with babies on my mind. Baby names. Baby shower ideas. I guess its official, that clock is tick tick TICKING.

As I have mentioned before, we have decided to stop preventing pregnancy at the end of this year. To be honest I was pretty nervous about it because of all of the life changes a baby brings. But when that clock starts I guess the nervousness sort of fades away.

I will be 30 years old this year. I remember when my mom turned 30. I was old enough to remember her birthday and her decision to stay 29 instead of turn 30 and I am now that same age and live such a different life than she did.
Jonah tells me we need to start making more trips to see the kids because he knows how my mind works. Anything I like, I love. I’m never sorta into anything. Im either all about it or not interested. Lets pray that we wont have too much trouble conceiving and that God waits until we are BOTH ticking.

My fear is that my husband is so willing to please me that he will just do anything for me. I know that he does that and I don’t want having a baby to be one of those things. I want him to be as ready as he can be to be a Dad. I don’t want to pressure him into it so that’s why I will bring it up from time to time and never really go bananas about it. I want it to be a joint decision but if he sees that it’s all I think about than maybe he will just want to make me happy. For the record, I’m not to that level yet, just crossing my mind once or twice a day.

I’m very devoted to my career right now. I think that’s why the ticking went away originally. I really was pushing to get to the top of my game and to be well respected in my company. I’ve arrived. I have made it through my first busy season as a manager and did so with some unfortunate setbacks in my office. I am at the highest position I can get to with only the general manager, VP, and President above me. I’ve done a great job and I’ve done it all with a hell of a lot of hard work and sacrifice. I didn’t do it alone though, Thank God for Jonah. He has been incredibly supportive and patient with me, even when it wasn’t fair for him.

He is working hard at his career now and I want to give him the same respect. I want to be supportive and patient with him. I want to show him I am here for him. I don’t want to push him to do anything until he is at a point that he is satisfied. Not at the top, but happy with what he has accomplished. I think we all know his career is a lot tougher to break into than mine was. I fell into mine and then worked hard. His is hard work from start to finish.

Tomorrow we are going to meet with Long and Foster about buying a house. We will see what it’s going to take and if we are eligible to do it at this point. At least obtain some guidance so we know where to start. Im a little nervous. I really want to buy a house, we’re ready for a mortgage instead of this ridiculous rent, but I’m scared we won’t be eligible for a loan. I don’t know what it takes to get one. I guess we will find out tomorrow.

Did I mention that next week at this time we will be on our honeymoon!?! That’s right, we decided to nix the idea of that grand European one (we’ll do it later) and just get the hell out of here! See the European one would have taken a bit longer to save for, which is fine. But my fear is if we keep waiting we won’t honeymoon at all. I have heard that from lots of people who waited to do their honeymoon and they didn’t go. The main reason we waited was because my work schedule didn’t allow any more than the 4 days I ask off for the wedding during October. The blackout season is from September all the way to February which is why we planned for a honeymoon in February. We needed the break.

Jonah has never been on a cruise before and I am just so thrilled to share this experience with him. He is going to love it! I hope! If he doesn’t it will be a very long 7 days. We left my camera at my Dads so now we need to borrow or buy another. We’ll see. It’s going to be so nice to have him all to myself. I’m so excited for him I have already packed his suitcase, which he will have to repack with things he actually likes to wear.

Stay posted for the pix of the honeymoon.
XoXo!
MChemical Kittenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18057894959727637798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7506244915220576388.post-69836400149843594572012-01-19T21:41:00.003-05:002012-01-19T21:50:26.861-05:00Nightly night caps<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YqixnWmySz4/TxjV-U75CSI/AAAAAAAAAp0/xsJk1CqfPd8/s320/winefest.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699540595185879330" />

I remember when I started college (wow, 11 years ago!?) and I was sitting in psychology class when my teacher, whose voice was entirely too therapeutic, asked ‘what’s the difference between someone who binge drinks every weekend to the point they black out and someone who insists they need a drink nightly to unwind from their stressful job?’. Well looking back perhaps she was being ironic. Generally, you start with the one and move on to the next. Which stage of life are you in? Night caps. Ah.
Yes, I am in night caps. Im not as conflicted as I was when sitting in that class. When I thought about the two I felt most bad for the person who needed the nightly drink because their job was so stressful. I thought how could that be? What kind of stress is that and what do you mean “unwind?” Well I certainly wouldn’t say that I “need” a drink nightly. But my job is very draining and I find myself laying in bed at night trying to find ways to increase morale- hell, “Morale” was my password at work for a while so that I wouldn’t forget the goal.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xj4HG-dKN1E/TxjV2Rt51RI/AAAAAAAAApo/8W7mrwkazuY/s320/wine1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699540456882951442" />
Its easy to sell a start up company to kids. You say things like, “they are open to new ideas and really listen to their people,” and “ You’re paving the way to something great!”. Sadly, young people and their lack of worldly beatings and the their beautiful dreams are easy to manipulate. Its not the goal it just turns out young people are the only ones crazy enough to take on this insane task for the amount of money I can pay. But, you get what you pay for.
A glass of wine does wonders for MY morale. I enjoy being able to sit back with my groom and sip a glass wine. We always make a toast and then I just get comfortable as our bedtime approaches. I stop thinking about the insulting things that have been said to me at work, or all the reports that aren’t as clean as I’d like, or how to approach an employee who needs discipline. I just enjoy my surroundings. On the weekends its not an issue.
Now is the time for me to endure the stress and night caps life. Focusing on career is normal for this period of my life. Or maybe Im just justifying my love for my night caps.
XoXo!
M
Let me just add, Ive had quite a night cap already...Chemical Kittenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18057894959727637798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7506244915220576388.post-14324754793212537742012-01-01T01:31:00.002-05:002012-01-01T01:35:16.792-05:00Twenty Twelve, Im coming for YOU!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 242px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Z_6nMrLu4JM/Tv_-iF1TyOI/AAAAAAAAApY/nZaxbvHwGAA/s320/Christmas2011.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5692548315654375650" />
Welp, I know your dying to find out our thoughts on 2011 and our goals for 2012 (haha, thanks for humoring me).
Coming to you, a little after midnight, on January 1st 2012 is ME! Megan! Why am I not out at some dive bar with my husband listening to live music enjoying a low carb beer? Well because some irresponsible loon decided to leave their home while sick which in turn got me and my husband sick. I say this very light-heartedly because if you know me you know it KILLS me to call out sick. I attend work with the flu and use Lysol as perfume on those days. I just need to be “in the know” (that’s my way of avoiding admitting that Im a bit of a control freak). So anyway we are sick. When I say sick I mean disgusting.
Now, don’t think I just sat here on this incredibly comfortable couch all day! I tortured myself by heading to walmart, toys-r-us, and the Mall (Yes, I heard the shocking screams from you on that last one). That was after we took Jonah to his doctor to get more meds for his sinus infection that hasn’t left his side since Thanksgiving (at least its consistent). I tried to weasel my way into his doctor but they don’t take my insurance and I cant stomach paying $140 when I have a doctors appointment on Tuesday.
Yes, we did a bit of shopping today because we will be seeing family for a New Years party tonight. We shopped for two teenage girls and to be honest I loved it. The one loves Hot Topic and you all know how much I love that store! The other is a pre-teen. When she and I were watching TV we saw a commercial for a disgusting toy that makes edible “brains” and “snot” and nastiness! Very fun young ladies. I love those girls. So of course we had to run out and get their gifts! I put on a brave face, put on my big girl panties and got my shopping done. As cranky as I felt it will be worth the look on their face when they realize that someone besides their parents “know” them and listen to them. So important.
On a side note which is related to the last thought but not related to this blog post (welcome to my brain which has a ping pong ball bouncing from one idea to another), it makes me so sad when people that I work with or know personally notice my nose ring suddenly. They say, “when did you get your nose pierced?” in which I reply, “ about 5 years ago and yes I wear it daily”. Have you honestly never looked at me? I mean, I know Im no model but really? I work beside you and you have spoken to me a million times and you never really looked at me? Im invisible? Sad. Anyway… moving on to the point of this blog…
New Years! Well I decided that we will make a New Years tradition. It has something to do with a candle and symbolically lighting it. Im going to tell Jonah about it later. Haha! Poor guy. We made some lists. Things we wanted to forget about 2011 and things we wanted to remember. Then we made our personal goals for the new year and our relationship/ “we” goals.
To touch on what we wanted to remember, we had a decent year! We got married this year! We moved to DC (meaning we survived NYC), I got promoted, Jonah got a better job, we got to see our families more, better apartment, healthier life. Jonah and his production company had a film make it to the film festival, “White Rice”.
We had some tough spots too. There was a huge argument the night before the wedding. All the stress had finally got to “us”. We don’t argue much so for two people who don’t do it and aren’t good at it it was intense. Wasn’t sure how to tell all the out of towners it wasn’t going down but party on! Thank God we found our heads and felt our hearts. We both saw our companies for who they were and felt disrespected by them. I walked away from a friendship. Money was tight. Our families struggled financially this past year. The bridal shower fiasco (someday I will talk about that but today is not that day).
We had our typical goals; weigh tloss, read more, learn sign language, career goals, promotion goals, etc. The ones Im most excited about are; getting out more and making babies next holiday season.
We ended our night a beautiful toast (peach wine of course) among laughter, kisses, cuddles, and promises (you have my permission to vomit now).
To you, whoever you are, we sincerely wish you a very happy and healthy 2012! May you live the live you want and have the things you need. Running into the last year that I will be a twenty-something. I had a list of thirty things to do before 30 but I lost the list during one of 8 moves I made in the last 10 years. I know that I accomplished a few things on that list and there are some things that I doubt I will be able to do. But, I think I would like to make a few goals for this last year and see where I end up next year at this time.

If you haven’t gathered, I’m a goal maker. I’ve always been interested in making goals for myself. I believe you should always be working towards something to promote personal growth. The goal doesn’t have to be big, it can be something as simple as using better vocabulary words. But even the smallest of goals will push you each day. We weren’t put here to just survive.

This year I would like to learn sign language. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I’ve always thought it would be neat to know. You never know when it will come in handy and plus if Jonah learns it too we will have our own language since it’s not common among our friends and family.

I would also like to learn Bangla. My husband is Bengali and when we are around his family that is what they speak. When they speak to me they speak English but they speak Bangla all other times. So at the table or at parties I have no idea what their saying. It can be pretty lonely at times. I need to learn so I can participate. Also I will be able to teach my children Bangla.

I would like to continue to lose weight. Next year at this time I would like to be down 50 lbs. Health is so important and I believe that my chances of staying healthy will increase dramatically if I can shed the extra weight. This will also help with one of my goals in my thirties which will be to have a baby.

I would like to take a class for credit to further my education. This probably won’t happen until the end of the year due to financial resources but it will be a goal of mine that I hope to say I’m closer to accomplishing next year at this time.

Last but not least, we need to start saving money. This is a big one. We are in a tight situation which doesn’t allow any money to be put away. Even before our current situation money was tight. We need to be able to save at least three months salaries, just in case. If we had an opportunity to do this before than we wouldn’t be so worried right now. Things are going to get worse before they get better. The economy has not been the kindest to most and we are included in this. Save money. I don’t know how we will do this one. All other goals have been easier to accomplish. This might include me taking a weekend job for a while. Nights aren’t possible for me, I get out so late. If I could do the weekend thing for about 6 months I think we would have a good start.

I’m really not sure how we will pull off our honeymoon at this point. I’ve heard of people who plan it later and never go. I don’t want that to be us but with money the way it is, it’s not looking promising. The money we got for our wedding had to go towards bills unfortunately. Maybe we will have to downscale our honeymoon. Whatever we do will be great, we just want to vacation together, alone.

Now that you see I have a lot to work towards, help me. Make sure you encourage me and remind me what I need to do to accomplish my goals. Once I post this I will have put it out into the world and I will owe it to myself, and you, to work my hardest.Chemical Kittenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18057894959727637798noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7506244915220576388.post-58837522427094996642011-11-13T22:20:00.004-05:002011-11-13T22:30:01.648-05:00They're sick and our hearts are breaking<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fXQPmRtBtXs/TsCKyCkHYZI/AAAAAAAAAmw/jdinj2bX8oc/s320/100_7704.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5674688122773266834" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LrGsoo9MnvM/TsCKcqzxvsI/AAAAAAAAAmk/kF3ODibwTmU/s320/100_7725.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5674687755619253954" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-B9vRh8n65-Y/TsCJnHbrJEI/AAAAAAAAAmY/x9xMI5zYrhk/s320/100_7746.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5674686835589850178" />
There is no gift more precious than a baby. We had three this weekend. However when they are sick its hard to really enjoy the incredible moments.

At first it was just the boys with their ear infections. Ear infections are very common in our family. When Eddie and I were kids we consistently got them after our colds. Even today I get them and have no idea I have them. I sometimes will go in for a physical and when they look in my ears, after making the usual comment about all the scar tissue, they will tell me that I have one and does it hurt. Sometimes I have no idea. However the really bad ones, well let’s just say those are the days I beg God to take me early.

The tough part is babies cant communicate the pain like kids can. Kayla coughed and told me it hurts when she coughs. Okay, shes sick and now I know what to do to help her. The boys, well they are too little to tell me and obviously they are holding their ears because they are infected. But its tough with sick babies.

Kayla woke up last night crying and crying. When I picked her up to cuddle her, I thought she had a bad dream, she was hot to the touch. Kayla was not warm but hot. Even her little piggies (toes) were hot. We took her tempature and she was running 102.2. Ouch. Its 3am and we have one sick little princess on our hands. So Uncle Jonah ran to the 24 hour pharmacy on the corner, thank God, and got her some Pedia Care. They were out of baby Tylenol. Seriously? OUT??? Anyway, it worked. I cuddled her to sleep and held her tight as she slept it off.

The boys had fevers throughout the day but they had prescribed meds for their infections. They wanted to be cuddled and loved the entire time, which I loved. But my heart broke for the little guys. They just weren’t feelin’ it. We should have had them stay home this weekend. They should have been resting. I guess we all didn’t know they would get worse this weekend. Lesson learned. It felt nice to love them when they were sick and it hurt too. Im exhausted and my head did not stop pounding.

Jonah quit his job. Turns out it was a form of pyramid scheme. Why can’t people be more honest? Why can’t they just come clean and say hey this is what it is, if you wanna be a part of it let me know, if not there’s the door. At that time, before wasting all of his time and not getting paid for it he could have made his grand exit. So, back to the drawing board for my artist. We are really hoping he will find something in his field, broadcast, film, writing,music, entertainment. What a tough field, eh?

Overall a rewarding and exhausting weekend. No sure how Beth, Ed, and Daddy-O do it. Hard job to love so much and run after them. Miss them already and praying that they will get better before Thanksgiving when we see them again.
XoXo!
M
p.s. So, you know how Jonahs middle name is Scissors? Maybe I should change mine to “Rock” that way I can win every argument by default. Your thoughts? I can do it Friday when I go get my name legally changed. Haha (It’s a joke… unless we are arguing that day and then it will happen)Chemical Kittenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18057894959727637798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7506244915220576388.post-69678261903540167262011-11-06T15:50:00.005-05:002011-11-06T15:56:46.709-05:00Watch out Hollywood...<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AU6ZNPUNG48/Trb0TH_9LvI/AAAAAAAAAmM/9GQA4yg15Gs/s320/100_7618.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5671989390121709298" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-U8mw21XXMGk/Trb0EFZ37GI/AAAAAAAAAmA/DWUFDVk6CFU/s320/100_7628.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5671989131727072354" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q2joEpbXt3Q/Trbz0BjFvnI/AAAAAAAAAl0/I5nD7YUGVtQ/s320/100_7626.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5671988855814078066" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4eR0eJNX3YM/TrbziXBR76I/AAAAAAAAAlo/zk8wTyEn4dk/s320/100_7630.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5671988552340205474" />
Nebraska called me the other day and asked that Jonah rock my world a little more gently, their feelin’ quakes. (My attempts at a goofy bad joke). I am very proud of my husband. He is doing such a fantastic job in his new job. Even though im not a huge fan of his new job, for a lot of reasons, he is doing a great job there. He works very hard for us and I really appreciate it. Not only that but a film he wrote the soundtrack for made it into a film festival, “White Rice”. He is so very talented and Im very blessed to be a part of his life.

We went to the screening this weekend in NYC. We had a really nice time. It was in the Tribeca Theatre and the showing was at 4:20pm. We took the bus, per usual, but this time there was no inappropriate groping, at least not by a stranger. My husband on the other hand can always be counted on to sneak a grab when he gets a chance.

The viewing was great. There were several friends that showed up for support. There were several short films shown at the same time. Ben said a few things at the end giving Jonah a shout out which was cool. It was nice. There was a cool lounge at the Cinema that we hung out in afterward and then off to Chinatown for dinner for some white rice. Fitting right? We didn’t stay the night because it was just too expensive being that the NYC marathon was this weekend.

So its official, the darn clock is ticking, ever so lightly. I have been having dreams about having a baby or holding a baby or having a sleeping baby in my arm. We are hoping to wait a few years before jumping into the big responsibility. I really think a decision like that needs to be taken seriously. Life will never be same again. You will never be able to just get up and go or sleep in on the weekends.

There is a whole new definition of “clean” for your home. We clean our house but with a baby around clean is sterile. Boiling bottles and making baby food. Eating differently for the breastfeeding. Free time will be different. Drinking too much isn’t okay when you have the responsibilities of the baby. There is a girl in the news now who has no idea what happened with her child because she drank too much. Its considered abuse. You wont be able to do this for a really long time. Not that drinking means that much to me. Ha! But its something that I do now that will need to change.

Bringing a baby in to your home is big and should not be gone into lightly. Now if God blesses us with a baby before we planned we will be thrilled to pieces! I believe every new parent should be required to take parenting classes before being able to take the baby home and take a test showing that you paid attention. Why? Because its not always a natural instinct like they say it is. There are things that you are told by friends and family that is incorrect. Bad advice. Your family deserves better than that. Being informed is key. Any parent that says they don’t need it is crazy. Whats the harm in being informed?

I have made some goals for myself before we start trying. I want to be at a healthy weight to carry a baby. I want to develop a healthy diet plan as well so that the baby gets all the nutrients it needs to develop. I want to take a few child development classes. I have taken a lot in college but it will be good to review and learn more. I want to take another big trip besides our honeymoon. I don’t know where yet but somewhere romantic and adventurous. I want to buy a home. We have a two bedroom now but I would like at least a 3 bedroom. I want to develop a nice little nest egg, want to be comfortable.

Its very possible none of the goals I have set will happen and we could have a surprise next month! Haha! But Im a list and goal maker. I would like to develop myself and us before bringing in a child. So until then I will continue to take the babies (Kayla, Landon, and Luke) and learn as much as I can from them. I take this seriously because if you mess up raising your children you cant take it back. That child will one day be an adult and that will be their past. They will one day be a parent and they will raise their child with their childhood in mind. Its so very important. Raising your children is most important job in the whole world.

Anway, its Sunday and we both have to work. Kinda stinks. But money is tight now so I cant imagine not having a job so I will work whatever day I need to so I can keep up with my work load.
XoXo!
MChemical Kittenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18057894959727637798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7506244915220576388.post-64519437047195281522011-10-24T10:09:00.010-04:002011-10-24T10:18:10.800-04:00Week one: " Hey Jonah, can you believe we're married?"<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5wlwRw7soOw/TqVzZD5IZKI/AAAAAAAAAlQ/Op_FLX88hqY/s320/100_7610.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5667062580494492834" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sYkzqleTHXo/TqVzRYc-9zI/AAAAAAAAAlE/brtc9-xXA1g/s320/100_7609.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5667062448574625586" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VoedkRHOE1E/TqVzJuDyx9I/AAAAAAAAAk4/7sWKBby6FWI/s320/100_7600.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5667062316935595986" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6U9hNSJhSFE/TqVy6dBtQeI/AAAAAAAAAks/lRT3wVVSYgQ/s320/100_7586.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5667062054665404898" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UOFj9mFXWkI/TqVyvWP1NuI/AAAAAAAAAkg/7E4XdLwYQUQ/s320/100_7588.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5667061863867037410" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q2KbAx_fnrk/TqVylAJRcNI/AAAAAAAAAkU/DrjmYsGIh4U/s320/100_7584.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5667061686135255250" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xKckxy6gKFg/TqVyagJ9-8I/AAAAAAAAAkI/ruMPzkSE-yw/s320/100_7583.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5667061505749547970" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cmn8_SF0tcs/TqVyRyfB12I/AAAAAAAAAj8/qCTThP_gpK8/s320/100_7580.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5667061356050896738" />
Now that Jonah has this new job we see each other less, as most of you know (I have been complaining about it for a while). We spend Sundays together and Saturday nights. This weekend I had wanted to celebrate Jonahs birthday, go to dinner and get him a new tattoo for his sleeve. Well we didn’t end up doing that this weekend.
Jonah wanted to go to a haunted house. He has never been to one before. The fun thing about my Husband is that he loves scary stuff but gets so darn scared he can barely take it. So he wants to do it but cant take it. He was a real hoot.

This particular haunted house was in Dulles, not too far from where we live. When we pull up we enjoyed the sounds of cracking whips and screaming. You could see the nervousness in his eyes. He tried to pull it off like he was cold. It was chilly but not that chilly! We had to wait for our living social deal to come through so it was more waiting and watching people run out of the house screaming. I enjoyed watching Jonahs mind race.

It was finally our turn and Jonah made me go first. He literally hid behind me. The first guy jumped out at us and yelled at Jonah, “Why did you put her in front”. Then that guy yelled to the rest of the guys in the house, “watch out boys, he’s using her as a shield”. Haha! It was fantastic. Jonah thought he would try to get in front again and then just couldn’t. Hilarious.

When we got out I jokingly said to him, “you’re my husband! You’re suppose to protect me”. He said, “Not from fake danger”. So there you have it folks! Fake danger does not warrant protection. Haha!

On Sunday we went to the mall and got mini massages and checked out our 10% of registries. I used the recycled program from MAC and turned in a few empty MAC containers and got a beautiful lipglass! Its bright pink! I adore it! Jonah also bought me a new pair of bright raspberry,sparkly flats. They are so pretty.
Did I mention that we cheated on our diet for the week after the wedding and now we are back on. We ate everything our heart desired and I was reminded why I enjoy our diet, I felt sick all week. So glad to have gotten that out of our system and looking forward to dieting again. I never thought I’d say that. We have made our new goals and are excited to reach them.

We are trying to decide on whether we will take a mini vacay on Thanksgiving weekend (my birthday weekend) or to do the family thing. It might be nice to get away since we are taking the delayed honeymoon. We’ll keep you posted. Also gotta work with our travel agent on the honeymoon plans. We are so excited about our European cruise. Amazing.

I turned my cell phone off when I got home on Friday and turned it back on this morning. Its been nice. I figured if it were an emergency than they would call Jonah. I have a sneaky suspicion that I have been thrown in to some drama, as always. Its funny, when Im not around to defend myself I get blamed for all kinds of things. No one approaches me, they all assume I have done it, said it, thought it. Ya know what, assume on! Im so tired of the constant defense. I have done it, said it, thought it, etc. Bah! I cant win and Im not going to try to win anymore. It was me.

Looking forward to this Halloween weekend. We have no idea what we will be or what party we will attend. We wanted to go to New York for Maryssas epic party. But since we are going to the big film screening the following weekend in New York we are going to skip out on this weekends party and find trouble here in DC. For those of you who haven’t heard, Ben made a short film with their production company, Wayward Revolution, and Jonah made the music for it. It has been accepted at a big film festival in New York so that’s the screening we are going to. We are so excited. Im so proud of Jonah and the boys. Lets hope it gets awesome reviews.

That’s all folks!Chemical Kittenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18057894959727637798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7506244915220576388.post-77298125050162651482011-10-22T10:59:00.002-04:002011-10-22T12:04:48.153-04:00Eat, Drink, and be Married!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CAlalIkHagE/TqLpcOiSm4I/AAAAAAAAAjw/qyIkzUymhro/s320/Wedding%2Bpicture.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5666347952333036418" />
We did!

"What does it feel like?" That is the question I get most often. How do you answer such a funny question. We have lived together for a few years now. I guess its more secure. I already felt like we would be together but now there is nothing to worry about I guess. I couldnt tell you what I worried about before. I dont know. But now I feel like I worry less or perhaps Im just so relieved that the wedding craziness is over. I dont know. I feel at peace, like this was Gods plan all along.

So the details, you know I do this for my own memory sake!

First lets start with the big day and I will throw in hightlights of the rest at the end.

October 15, 2011: Officially Mr. and Mrs.
We woke up at the inn, the beautiful Wisteria room. The walls are lavander and the bedding is white. Very crisp. It was chilly and perfect. I rolled over and saw my best friend laying there and it seem hard to believe that this was the day that we had been waiting for. This day would be one of the biggest memories of our lives.

It's strange knowing ahead of time when something, an event or action will change your life. If you think about it, most times something changes your life you dont know until it happens. But now you wake up and its there, in the pit of your stomach. You tell yourself, remember every moment this is important. What you eat, who you speak to, time on the clock all matters today. It's eerie.

Jonah and I decided to stay together that night instead of apart. We put a lot of thought into this action. I finally decided that I couldn't imagine not waking up next to my best friend on the biggest day of our lives thus far. Boy am I glad we did because in the middle of the night I woke up with a very sore throat and I was chugging ice cold water. My brilliant other half said, "No, Dear. You need a hot cup of tea. That will sooth your throat". He was right. The hot tea did the trick so I could get back to sleep.

I jump out of bed and open the curtains to see if we have rain or shine. Shine. Beautiful blue skies. I can feel Gods smile, his warmth. So we hurry and get ready because there is a big group breakfast at my Moms cabin this morning and Jonah still needs to drive all the way to Richmond to get Brandons tux and I need to get my nails done.

We arrive at the cabins and so many smiles, so much love. We felt blessed to have everyone there. I grabbed my little sunshines, Kayla, Landon, and Luke, and we all ate with everyone. It was fantastic. Then off we flew in separate directions.

Lynda, Kelly, and Jake were awesome at finding a nail salon that actually wanted to help us. We had some difficulty but eventually found one and I got some awesome one on one time with Kelly. I got to squeeze in some girl talk in the car with Lynda. It was nice. Ive missed this. Jake was so calm. What a great guy.

We got back to my room and my Dad was waiting there. He had a present for me. He had refinished my childhood/teen mirror from my bedroom set. He wrote me a letter talking about how the mirror had been there to help me get ready every day of school, drum major, dates, prom, and wanted to help me get ready for my wedding day as well. It was so touching. Very meaningful. He had redone the wood work and matched it with my current bedroom set. Such a beautiful and thoughtful gift. Exactly what I needed from my Daddy.

I took a quick shower and Jake started my hair. Man did he do an awesome job. I loved it. While he was doing that people started to show up. Beth, Kayla, Aunt Annalisa, Ingrid, the photographer, but not my make up or my Mom. Poor Mom was at home trying to give the ring bearers, Landon and Luke, a nap and bathed for the big day. She was stuck. I refused to put the dress on without her. She was so panicked because she was scared that she would miss it. I would never let her miss that.

Jonah finally dropped off my makeup and I did that while I waited for Mom. I must admit I did an awesome job with my makeup but I left my MAC lipstick I bought for the day at home. I used some plum on my eyes and tried to hide the fact that my spray tan made me look like Snooky.

Mom showed up and looked gorgeous! Her dress was perfect. She rushed and we started to get ready, she and Kelly helped me get in the dress. Kelly was so calm and collected the whole time. That was great, we needed a calm person.

Once I got in the dress Eddie and the boys stopped in. They all three looked so handsome. Just perfect. Got to talk to Ed a little and then the photog had us girls go take our pictures out front. I ran into my asst on the from porch and she started to cry. It was still very calming, very nice. I had a million photographers out there taking pictures. Heather, Ingrid, Sammi, etc...

Ben, our best man, delivered my wedding gift from Jonah. It was a sweet bear dressed in a tux whose heart beats. Very cute. Beth, the maid on honor delivered my gift which was a leather bracelet with our wedding date on it.

My big brother Rich walked the Moms down the isle to be seated. Such a handsome usher. He had blue hair and shades on. Seemed fitting. I loved having him there. Meant the world to me that he made it against the odds.

It was time to line up for the big walk. We had the girls go down the isle to somewhere over the rainbow/what a wonderful world by Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole. I came down to "The Light" by Sara Barellas. I walked down with my Dad and it was so nice, my shoes did get caught on the dress somehow but no one noticed. Jonah looked so handsome and nervous. He looked very timid.

In that moment I had to remind myself to pay close attention, this was big. I was looking around and smiling at everyone but I needed to pay attention to the beautiful man at the end of the isle and when I did I saw how completely handsome and breath taking he looked. Then I couldnt take my eyes off of him.

Preacher asked if I would take Noah to be my husband and I said No, but i'll take Jonah. Then he continued to call Jonah Noah the whole ceremony. Jonah corrected him and he still struggled. It was funny but a little disappointing. We exchanged our self written vows and rings and before we knew it we were married! It was sweet.

Photos, dancing, food, man the night flew by just like the day. But it was all beautiful. We enjoyed great friends and family members. We had the most amazing signature drink, Pumpkin Martinis. Everyone loved the food and drink. Uncle Jim was our rocking DJ.

We said goodnight to everyone and waited until everyone left before going upstairs.

Highlights:
*Such a beautiful rehearsal dinner. My Dad, Patti, and Jay really hooked us up. It was beautiful. There were white Christmas lights strung, the food was amazing, it was beautiful. Better than I imagined.

*We were late to our own rehearsal because we had to get the marriage license. They almost didnt give it to us because my DL was so faded. We also showed up in jeans and I looked like Snooky. Spray tan accident. Bad bad bad. Before dinner I showered and got it off of me. Got all dressed up.

*Mom and Terry were such big helps with the kids but more than that planning the entire event. It was thanks to them that I was so calm. They both took the burden for me.

*Lots of people RSVP'd but last minute a bunch of them couldnt come. They were missed. Thats the problem with having a wedding out of town, you should just assume that 1/3 of the ones that said yes wont be able to make it.

*Me, the family paparazzi, couldn't find batteries for my camera!! My biggest regret! I wish I had my camera! There are so many things I wanted to take pictures of and couldn't.

*Kaylas flower girl dress turned out pretty nice thanks to Jonahs mom. She fixed it up for us. Still wasnt $80 great though.

*I wish I had more time to spend with everyone one. There were family members I hadnt seen in YEARS. Aunt Beth I hadnt seen since I graduated high school! I would have liked to have spent more one on one time with my parents and Jonahs parents. You're so busy it just isnt possible.

When I remember more I will post. But thats it for now. I need to clean our house. Yuck. I had living like this. I will be hiring a maid. At least until our busy season is over. I leave at 7am and get home after 9. I dont have time to keep it up and I cant stand the mess.

XoXo!
MQChemical Kittenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18057894959727637798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7506244915220576388.post-90470458185710900352011-10-07T22:26:00.002-04:002011-10-07T22:37:24.232-04:00At heart, still a little girl.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-InHeVQyTZ1c/To-1fbWc8zI/AAAAAAAAAjk/TWmGIlTeraA/s320/DC%2Bdoes%2BBridal.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5660942808150504242" />
Marriage is tough and it begins with the wedding. I think it’s a test. If you can get to the big day without breaking up then you have earned your way into a marriage. My goodness this time has been trying. Last night we prayed together before bed and, aside thanking God for all the beautiful things he has blessed us with, we (tearfully) begged for a break. It’s exhausting. I, now, know why people take a honeymoon. Too bad that’s not in our stars. We knew by planning a wedding during my busy season my time off would be minimal.

Today I had a quiet moment. I was playing with my hair, just running my fingers through my hair. It felt so good, like when I was a little girl and my mom would play with my hair. It’s just so soothing. I missed the simplicity, being a little girl. As I was sitting there in a daze, playing with my hair, I realized that not a lot has changed. I am still a tough cookie on the outside but vulnerable inside, except now I feel like lace inside instead of jelly.

I still need my Moms opinion and reassurance. I still want my Dad to think Im the prettiest girl he’s ever seen. I still want a boy to know what color my eyes are and know all my favorite things. A boy who thinks Im pretty without makeup and in sweats. I want a little attention now and then. To be doted on for 10 minutes or so. I want to spin in a beautiful dress. I want to guess my future and believe it’s going to be exciting and bright. I feel like Im playing house.

Today I wore this outfit my Mom bought me and I feel so girlie and pretty in it. Just like a little girl. In tights, ruffles, lace. I think as I lose more weight I will do more of this. Become a little more vulnerable. Normally I am kind of frumpy. Maybe its time for me to be pretty.

I don’t remember dreaming about my wedding as a kid. I don’t think I ever played bride. There was a time when I was convinced I wouldn’t marry because I was afraid I would change my mind or I wouldn’t be a good wife because of my bouts of depression. I didn’t want to hurt anyone especially someone I loved enough to spend my life with. Walking away has always seemed easier then watching someone you love be destroyed and knowing you’re the blame.

Last weekend before the wedding. I have a very unrealistic to-do list especially since its all done via Metro and bus. Should be interesting. One of my friends from work and I are going to get our hairs did. Then we need to get Jonahs wedding band, grooms men gifts, shop for a new dress for the rehearsal dinner, get my make-up done and buy it so I can do it myself, work on the favors, work on the photographers list, work on the music list, work on the videographer list, pick up some of the girlie stuff… Just not enough time.

The flower girl dress better be at my door when I get home. So I order this beautiful dress in the beginning of August on etsy.com. It was a little pricey. It wll be custom made. Very cute. I was told I would get it in the middle to September. Its now October 7th. I told her it better be in my hands on October 7th and she said it would be… so I guess we will see. The scary thing is that I went to her etsy site and its empty now. She use to have pages of dress and now it looks like shes out of business.

Can I just say, its been the attire that has been the toughest and suckest thing this whole wedding. I cant seem to catch a break here. Easiest thing, baby tuxes. Those boys are angels! They knew they needed to be easy for Aunt Megan. Love them.
So, whats in Megans future after the wedding? Good question. Im going to pick a country we are visiting on our honeymoon and spend a month learning about them at night after work. I will be purchasing the rosetta stones and receipes, books,visiting museums on the weekends. I might even try taking Piano lessons on Saturdays. Finish the kids scrapbooks! Making a home with cool craft ideas. More time with my babies!

I wont miss the excitement of the wedding because I will have lots and lots to keep entertained. Let me just say that all of this will happen after I sleep for 48 hours straight and a spa day. That will be the mini vacay.

How ‘bout the boy wonder you ask? He just got a new job that he is absolutely fascinated with and is working his way to the top. He’s working long hours and weekends so that he can climb fast. He will make good money to save for his production company and a nest egg for us. He is doing really well over there and Im ridiculously proud of him, even though I miss him tons and tons. This is something that makes him feel really good about himself and they love him over there (not as much as I do).

I have included a picture of part of my staff and myself. They surprised me with a Bridal pot luck. Very sweet. Im the one in the crazy veil/glasses/ and umbrella. Enjoy. I certainly did. Great staff. I love the for their big hearts.
XoXo!
MChemical Kittenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18057894959727637798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7506244915220576388.post-11272574425898672712011-10-03T23:10:00.002-04:002011-10-03T23:12:44.200-04:00lessons learned<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-swJx1KgQUAg/Top5mMsP2ZI/AAAAAAAAAjc/pHQaxjih7W4/s320/100_6855.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5659469578893253010" />
October has arrived. My favorite month is here and I have so much to look forward to now. The weather has chilled a little, my hoodies are waiting to be abused, and the leaves are starting to turn. I could not be more excited. Jonah loves October too. He likes the season and all the nostalgia it brings. Something about those brisk autumn nights brings out the creativity and romance in us all.

The bonfires, thick throw blankets, pumpkin spice everything. Ah Rocktober, how I love thee. Perfect for a sweater, some chucks, a snuggle, and hot apple cider. It is all love.

I think when God made Jonah for me he knew I would love him even more if his month of birth was my precious October. What a present I get every October until the end of my time, all of my favorite things all in one glorious month. My Grooms birth, my wedding anniversary, my October and its fixin’s. L.O.V.E.

Fifteen days. That’s what it has all come down to is fifteen days. Wow, what two weeks can do to someone. Its coming up fast now and Im ready. The last blog was a little sad I think. I had hit a rough patch. You know, in weddings, there can be more rough patches than you think.

There are people in your life and you may never know how much you mean to them. You may never know that the thought of you missing their wedding just boggles their mind. They cant even imagine you not being there and now that your not going to be there it is what they think of when their mind stops racing for a quiet moment.
There are things that people say, maybe with every intention of being funny, that make you so sad. You cant believe that they could say something so heartless and selfish even as a joke. I will remember to think before I speak, especially to those I love and to those who love me. I wonder if they could see the hurt in my eyes when they said those things or the breaking of my voice when I repeated what they said to make sure I misunderstood what they said. How about the look on my face when I realized I did hear them correctly.

Follow through. Don’t pretend to be dependable if you aren’t. I will not over extend myself when I know that its someone elses dreams at stake. Don’t make commitments you cant follow through on, even something small. You never know what that commitment will mean to someone or how offended they will be when you don’t do it.
I will never let anyone get in the way of me enjoying the people I love and seeing them the happiest they will ever be. No one will keep me from attending all the big beautiful things in life, like watching two people that I love celebrate their love in front of God and the world.

You can get through anything with enough sleep. When I was sleep deprived I have made some really dumb decisions and also lacked the patience that I require to handle the world. No amount of caffeine is equivalent to one good 8 hour night of sleep. Sleep is a cure all.

Though you may have someone on your top 10 priority list does not mean you are on theirs, and vice versa.

What if you woke up today with only what you thanked God for yesterday. Don’t forget to thank God daily. If it weren’t for God then I know for a fact I wouldn’t be here.
If it’s not about you don’t make it about you. There are just some things that you can’t be selfish about. Save the drama for yo’ Mama, not my Mama, Yo’ Mama! Look, drama is not my thing. The wedding is no exception. Some people love it, and that’s cool. Not me. I wont push my drama on others.

Lessons I have learned. There will be more before this whole thing is said and done but Im so thankful for these lessons. I feel so blessed that I have been able to take so much away from this experience. I will be better because of every piece of this celebration of love. From the drama to the unexpected blessings.

Im so happy and so in love. Someone once said that now that you are dating Jonah I have no idea who you are anymore. You’re not as cynical or sarcastic anymore. She said it because she was hurt but it was one of the best compliments ever. I was really depressed and unhappy and then I fell in love. I found someone that I could tell anything to and he would love me no matter what. I am so incredibly lucky to have found him and now to be marrying him.Chemical Kittenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18057894959727637798noreply@blogger.com1
